Michael J. Goede, Artistic Director and Conductor
Michael J. Goede served as Director of Choral Programs and
an English instructor at Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School from 2003-2007.
After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in 1998, he began his
undergraduate studies at
Valparaiso University where he graduated summa
cum laude in 2003 with majors in English, Music Education, and Secondary
Education and a minor in Humanities through his work in the Honors College.
Under Michael’s leadership, the Choral Program at Kettle
Moraine Lutheran grew from two choirs with 64 singers to five ensembles with155
singers. In 2008, he directed the Concert Choir in an acclaimed performance at
the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association State Convention. He is an active
member of ACDA, WCDA, and MENC. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Kohl
Fellowship, which recognizes 100 educators in Wisconsin for excellence in
teaching and the ability to inspire lifelong learning. That same year he was
selected to serve as the first Artistic Director for
Canticum Novum: a WELS Chamber Choir.
They offered their first performance under his leadership at the 2008 WELS
National Conference on Worship, Music, and the Arts at Gustavus Adolphus College
in Mankato, Minnesota, where he also served as guest conductor for the National
Honor Choir. Michael has studied conducting at the University of Michigan
and served as guest director at festivals in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, and
Washington. He recently completed a Master of Music in choral conducting with
honors as a Fellowship student of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt at The Ohio State
University. In 2010, he will begin his tenure as Director of Choral Programs at
Klein Oak High School in Houston, Texas. |
