Luther Curia, born in Auburn, CA, received a Bachelor of
Science in Education from Martin Luther College in 2003. He has enjoyed
singing with Canticum Novum since 2006 and has also sung with the Sheboygan
Symphony Singers. Luther currently lives in Sheboygan and serves as 3rd-5th
grade teacher and Resounding Joy (an adult choir) director at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church in Howards Grove, WI. He has a daughter, Trinity, a son,
Paschal, and a wonderful wife, Gillian. Soli Deo gloria!
Phil Eich
currently serves as a 5th and 6th grade teacher, organist, and choir
director at St. John's in Bay City, MI. He also serves as the director of
the Saginaw Valley Lutheran Chorale. Phil has studied organ with Steven
Egler, and choral conducting and rehearsal technique with James Jordan and
Michael Kemp.
Jon Hermanson
is
a native of New Ulm, MN. He graduated from Martin Luther College in 2006
where he studied music education. While in college, Jon had the privilege of
singing with the Dale Warland Singers in their final season of existence,
which included extensive solo work in their final “Cathedral Classics”
concert. He then spent two half-seasons singing with The Singers –
Minnesota Choral Artists, under the direction of Matthew Culloton. Since
graduation, Jon has been singing every summer with Canticum Novum, and
participates in many worship settings. He is happily married to Katie (Moll)
and teaches fifth and sixth grade at Trinity, Kiel in Wisconsin.
Nate Krug graduated from Martin Luther College in 2003. He
studied voice with Roger Hermanson and Jodi Rowe. From 2003-2008, he served
as teacher grades 3-5 at St. Bartholomew in Kawkawlin, Michigan, as well as
playing organ and directing adult choir. While there, he sang with the
Camerata Singers of Midland, Michigan, and the Saginaw Valley Lutheran
Chorale. He then received a call to teach grade 5 and serve as drama
director for Illinois Lutheran in Crete, Illinois. Nate enjoys teaching
voice and piano to members of Trinity in Crete, as well as serving as
organist, pianist, and soloist. He also performs in local musical theater.
He has been singing with Canticum Novum since its beginning in 2006.
Paul Kuckhahn is a 2000
graduate of Martin Luther College and a 2004 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran
Seminary. He served as a tutor at MLC for two years and has been associate
pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI since 2006. He has sung
in various tours with the MLC College Choir as well as the Seminary Chorus
and has participated in numerous musicals. He and his wife, Meghan, have
been married since 2006.
Darik Mischke graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005 and received a call to teach at St. Stephen
in Beaver Dam, WI. There he teaches eighth grade, directs junior and
senior choirs, and serves as head organist. He enjoys his time with Canticum Novum and treasures working with a group of highly trained and
professional singers.
Mark Tiefel, tenor, joined Canticum Novum in
2008. Mark is currently pursuing a M.Div at Wisconsin Lutheran
Seminary and recently completed a year of practical experience as a vicar at
Holy Word Lutheran Church in Austin, TX. Mark will spend the coming year in
Mequon supervising the WELS Archives. While in Mequon, Mark will continue to
sing with the Seminary Chorus, and will serve as senior assistant at Grace
Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He looks forward to completing his
pastoral studies in 2010.
